It’s hard not to love October. It’s the only time of the year here where I’m rarely too hot or too cold, I get to break out my favorite sweaters, and I begin to live in leggings and sweatpants again. Fall fashion is definitely my favorite, with the jackets and sweaters and cute pairs of jeans. And I start to fill our home with earthy tones, cozy blankets, and lots of candles. Even though we’re busy with projects right now, I’m trying to make sure we take time to soak up the last of the nice weather and do all the fun fall things like apple-picking and pumpkin-patching too. My list of favorite things about October could go on and on—making soups and chilis, watching football, Halloween candy, and all. the. mums !! But I managed to narrow it down to ten of my favorite things instead. Let me know if we share any favorites in the comments!
- White Berry Wreath
If you’re a lover of neutrals like me, this white berry wreath from Crate and Barrel is the front door accessory for you. It also just pops so well against our black door; I love it for this time of year, and also throughout the winter!
2. Abercrombie 3/4-Zip Sweatshirt
I love it so much I bought it in two colors! This sweatshirt is perfect for October, it’s not too heavy, it’s SO soft, and it’s a great length to wear with leggings and joggers. I’ve been wearing it non-stop. I’m wearing it as I type this! For something a bit “nicer,” I’m also a huge fan of this American Eagle sweater, and I will be breaking it out once the temperature drops a bit.

3. Arched Vintage Mirror
I’ve been busy sourcing items for our bathroom renovation recently, and came across this vintage vanity mirror from World Market. I snagged two of them immediately, because they’re a great alternative to the pricey Anthropologie Primrose mirror that I was hoping to emulate in our bathroom design. I’ll have to wait until they arrive to make the call, but I’d probably prefer the brass option over this bronze one if it were in stock (it’s currently out of stock in brass). But, if that’s the case, then I can always use some ever-trusty Rub n Buff to turn it brass! For $129, it seemed like a crazy steal!

4. Vanilla Almond Nut Bars
I’ve been making these vanilla almond snack bars from Sally’s Baking Addiciton for years! They’re delicious, easy to make, and perfect with coffee or as an afternoon pick me up. And so much healthier than a packaged nut bar! Robert and I attempted the Whole 30 last month, and while we didn’t quite complete it, it certainly helped us be more mindful of what kinds of food we’re consuming. I love that these include all natural ingredients, and are only sweetened with honey and vanilla. Sally has a few other versions of these bars that I love too, but these are the ones I make most often.

I am not exaggerating when I say that I am in LOVE with our new bed sheets from Cozy Earth. Full disclosure, they reached out to me offering to gift a set of sheets in exchange for my honest thoughts, but man oh man, am I so glad they did! I thought Robert and I were sheet snobs before (we were very loyal to a particular set of sheets), but Cozy Earth’s bamboo temperature-regulating sheets are definitely the softest, most comfortable sheets we’ve ever slept on. They’re a bit pricey, but if you use the code HOMEONHARBOR40, you can save 40% off your order!! That includes their pajamas, loungewear, and anything else available on their site. I’m definitely trying out their loungewear too, because this fabric is amazing.
October is the month I put away my jean shorts and transition to jeans. A lot of bloggers I follow have hyped up these Levi’s jeans for years, and I finally purchased my first pair last fall. I can honestly say I now know why so many other women sing their praises. They’re such a cute and flattering cut, I love the button detail, and the price doesn’t break the bank. I’ve recently purchased a second pair in this color, too. I size up to a size 27 in these because they don’t have any stretch. But they do loosen up as you wear them, so don’t size up too much either!

7. H&M Vase
This adorable handled stoneware vase from H&M is only $19.99 and I bought it immediatley upon noticing it had been restocked a few days ago. I currently have it styled in our dining room with some dried florals, but the possibilities are endless for this little guy. I’m debating buying a second one to paint black, because I can never have enough black vases. (Even if I may not have enough spaces to put them, ha!)
8. Lululemon Belt Bag
First things first, doesn’t this photo of me and Robert remind you of this meme? I can’t look at it without laughing! But really, he was probably just telling me to hurry up and stop taking photos, haha! This belt bag from Lululemon had been on my wishlist for a while, but every time I’d think about buying it, I always talked myself out of it. I don’t know why; it’s only $38 and it is SO GREAT! I love being hands-free, especially with a toddler in tow. And it fits eveything I need–my car keys, cardholder, phone, and sunglasses case. It’s part of my weekend uniform now, along with that Abercrombie Sweatshirt and a pair of Align leggings.
9. McGee and Co. Wallpaper
I’ve been dreaming of using this Demi Floral Stripe Wallpaper from McGee and Co. for a while now. I originally envisoned it in our powder room, but when I was throwing together a moodboard for the Fall One Room Challenge, I needed a wallpaper fast (because per usual, I procrastinated and was working on a deadline). So I threw this one in the mix just for a visual of some sort. But then I fell in love with it with the beadboard and the penny tiles. And so, despite the teeniest, tiniest wallpaper sample ever provided (see the flat lay photo above!), I still ordered it and will be installing it as part of our guest bathroom renovation! The price tag is not budget-friendly, but we’re saving costs elsewhere with this project, so I’m so glad we can make it work. I’m also installing a minimal amount since most of the walls will be covered with beadboard, so we only needed a few rolls (phew).
10. Target Mule Slides
Meet my go-to work shoes. These slides look professional enough to wear with pants and blazers, but are also pretty much hard-soled slippers. They’re great for commuting and for around the office. (I switch them out for heels if I have a big meeting or a court appearance of course.) But I buy a new pair every year! And October seemed like an acceptable time to break out the (faux) fur, so I just had to share them with you! They’re $25 and so comfortable. So until I can justify the pricetag of the Gucci version, I’ll be living in my Target mules.
That’s all I got this month! If there are any types of products you’re looking for recommendations on (home or otherwise), let me know in the comments, and I’ll try to feature my favorites in the upcoming months!
