One of the most frequently asked questions I get on Instagram is for information about our kitchen finishes and decor. For anyone taking on a kitchen renovation, I know what a daunting task it can be! It’s endless hours of sourcing different lighting options, a million different tiles and countertops, deciding between eighteen very similar looking sinks, and then the painful process of narrowing down hardware selections. (Or maybe this was just me?!) I’d scroll through Instagram for hours looking for inspiration, and often times end up dissapointed that I couldn’t find information on where certain items were from. So, in an effort to not be that disappointing Instagram or Pinterest post, here is everything I chose for our kitchen, found in one blog post, for your browsing convenience!
Let’s start with appliances. We chose the 36 inch Ilve Italian Range, which we purchased through Hallman USA. Ours is the matte charcoal option with brass hardware. It cooks as beautifully as it looks, and is truly a dream range that dictated the whole asthetic of our kitchen. For those seriously considering one of these ranges, my one piece of advice is to be aware of the lead time. We ordered months in advance, but it came about a month later than expected, and we ended up still using the air fryer and hot plates for a few weeks even after the rest of our kitchen renovation was finished. I think it took 22 (?) weeks from the time we placed our order for it to arrive at our door.
Our refrigerator is a KitchenAid French Door refrigerator, which gives a high-end look without the high-end pricetag. We went with the counterdepth option to save space because that side of our kitchen is pretty tight, and we find that there is sufficient space in it for our every day needs. But we do have a back up fridge in our garage, so we definitely make use of that too!
The microwave we chose is a built-in, and we had it fitted for our island. We also purchased the trim kit to frame it within the existing cabinetry, which our contractor had to shim a bit in the end, but overall, we spent a couple of hundred dollars instead of the thousands true custom built-in microwaves can cost! The Bosch dishwasher was the one existing peice of our kitchen that we kept with the renovation; the previous homeowners had just purchased it the year before, and we truly love it. It’s almost soundless!
Choosing finishes was the most fun, but also the most difficult part of our kitchen renovation. (Okay, maybe doing dishes in the utility sink for weeks wasn’t so fun either.) But there are just so. many. options! I’ve linked our lighting, including the sconces above our sink, the pendants above our island, and the dome light above our cafe table all right here. And all of our hardware is from Rejuvenation. I mixed two different lines to get the look I was going for, but all of the knobs and pulls are aged brass. I used bin pulls on the lower drawers, knobs on the upper cabinets and drawers, and handle pulls on the lower cabinets.
Maybe the biggest decision though was choosing our backsplash tile. I knew we had a lot of walls to cover because I wanted the tile to go to the ceiling. I also wanted that artisan, handmade tile look, but couldn’t afford the pricetag that comes with it. Enter the Bedrosians Cloe handcraft white tile, which gives the walls a ton of depth and texture, but at an affordable pricepoint. I think it’s about $7 a square foot. I LOVE how it turned out. We installed the tile without spacers, and just stacked them on top of one another in a brick pattern. (And by we, I really mean our contractor did this!) Then we chose standard white grout, which really lets the differences in the tiles shine through. One thing you do want to be careful of when using this tile? Make sure the similarly colored pieces (since there are a lot of white and gray-ish variations) aren’t clumped together when installing them. I laid out a bunch on the countertops before our contractor installed, and then he just ended up grouping them into like-colored tiles and chose from different piles to install.
Our countertops are by MSI Surfaces and are Calcutta Verona quartz. I like that they have a slightly gray tint to them to break up all of the white, and the veining is pretty subtle. Our cabinets are by Bow, and we purchased them through a local wholesaler. They’re just stock white shaker cabinets, we haven’t touched them with paint! (Although I would have loved to have had the budget to paint them Alabaster [Sherwin Williams] like our walls.) But I think they look great as-is.
Finally, our little open shelves were an amazing Etsy find! I was orginally quoted a very high price tag for local custom-made shelves, but an amazing Etsy shop made them for a quarter of the price! I love the warmth they bring to our kitchen.
Finally, I’ve linked all of my favorite decor and our kitchen furniture here. Our table fits our space perfectly and is from Crate and Barrel. It also extends if we need more room for guests. Our chairs actually belonged to our dining table, but I repuruposed them here because I like them mixed in with the black table. The kitchen counter stools are a great Target x Hearth and Hand find for around $50! We needed something low profile again because it’s a pretty tight fit between our island and our refrigerator, so a simple shaker stool was the answer.
I also love styling the kitchen with cutting boards, simple canisters, bowls, and some pretty art. I switch these lower cost items in and out to mix it up and keep things fresh. But kitchen decor doesn’t have to be expensive! That’s what so great about kitchens–everything can be considered decor!

Hi, your kitchen is beautiful! I am beginning the kitchen reno process now. On the wall where you have stacked cabinets with glass doors on the top, how tall are those cabinets? I’m doing something similar in my kitchen and can’t decide about how tall the lower and higher cabinet should be relative to each other. I love the look of yours.

Those are 9″ cabinets flipped sideways with custom drawer pullouts 🙂

It does not include the patio door and the kitchen is 11.5′ x 12′.
